There are 9 states (Bundesländer) in Austria. There are different laws depending on which states you are working in. You can find out, what you need to be aware of here.
In many states you must be at least 18 years old to work as a sex worker. In others you must be over 19 years old.
If you are pregnant, you are not allowed to work in sex work in Salzburg. In Styria there are some brothels where pregnant women are not allowed work. Check beforehand.
You are only allowed to work in a licenced brothel. Offering sex work in your own apartment is forbidden in Austria.
You are only allowed to offer your services at the customers home in Lower Austria, Upper Austria, Styria and Vienna.
Beware: No minors (under 18s) are allowed to be present in the home.
Offering prostitution “on the street” is only legal in a certain area in Vienna. Beware: Sex on the street or in any public place is forbidden and a punishable offence, including in the area of Vienna where street prostitution is legal!
If you want to be a sex worker in Austria, you have to be registered. Where and how you can register is different in each state.
